Haywood Elementary receives SACS accreditation

SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) team members visited Haywood Elementary on December 3 to begin a review of the school for accreditation. On Wednesday, the team enjoyed breakfast with 35 community stakeholders, including school board members, a county commissioner, parents and the school leadership team.

The SACS review team interviewed stakeholders, the leadership team, students, teacher assistants and teachers. On Thursday, December 4, the review team spent the day visiting classrooms and reviewing the school’s documentation gathered for the review process.

According to Principal Jean Wills, on Thursday afternoon, at a celebration in the library, the review team made their recommendation for SACS approval for Haywood Elementary with glowing words of praise for the school.
