Veteran administrator Robert Mitchell is in his 10th year as the principal at Haywood High School. He taught vocational agriculture classes seven years at Bolivar Central High School, then at Haywood High until he became Director of Vocational Technical Education in 1982. In 1999, he became principal at Haywood High. He is a Haywood High School graduate and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Tennessee-Martin and a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Memphis. He is married to Alice Mitchell, who teaches at Sunny Hill School, and they have two children.
 

Vice Principal: Yvette C. Blue (bluey@k12tn.net  )
Mrs. Yvette Blue has 13 years’ experience as a teacher. She taught 10 years in Chicago, Ill., and three years at Haywood Junior High School. Mrs. Blue served as Assistant Principal at East Side Elementary for four years. At Chicago State University, she earned a B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education and a M.S. Ed. in the Teaching of Reading. Yvette also earned a M.S. Ed. in Leadership and Policy Studies from University of Memphis. She is currently a doctoral student at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. Throughout her career, she has lead numerous teacher in-services covering more than 13 topics, and she was also a presenter at the 34th Annual Tennessee Reading Association Conference in 2007. The New Teacher Training Initiative, created while at East Side, is the brainchild of Mrs. Blue in efforts to decrease the new-teacher attrition rate in Haywood County by addressing basic needs of the novice teacher as cited in educational research. Yvette serves as Advisory Board Chairperson for the Haywood County Boys & Girls Club and as Secretary on the Leadership Haywood County Board of Directors. She is the wife of Brownsville native Mr. Phylemon Blue.

Assistant Principal: Dr. Jerry Pyron (pyronj@k12tn.net  )
Dr. Jerry Pyron is serving as an assistant principal at Haywood High School beginning with the 2009-2010 school year. He has been employed by the Haywood County School System since 1990 and has 22 years of teaching experience. Most recently he has taught at Haywood Junior High School. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Union University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and a Doctorate in Leadership and Professional Practice from Trevecca Nazarene University. He and his wife, Alison, have two sons, both in college.

Director, Career and Technical Division – Michelle Tillman (tillmanm3@k12tn.net )
Mrs. Michelle Tillman will take the reins of the Career and Technical Division at Haywood High School in the 2009-2010 school year. She attended Dyersburg State Community College, then completed her undergraduate degree at Lambuth College with a Bachelor’s of Music Degree. She earned a Master’s Degree in Education in 1998 from Union University, then an Education Specialist Degree in Administration and Teacher Supervision at Union. She has taught music and choir in schools since 1994 and came to Haywood High in 2001 to serve as the school’s choral director. In addition to her duties as C & T Director, Mrs. Tillman will continue to direct the HHS Show Choir. She and her husband, Sammy, have two children, both of whom are in Haywood County schools.
