Business and Finance Department
The Business and Finance Department coordinates the
business operations of the school district including
budget development, accounting and reporting, and
purchasing. Maintenance services are also directed

School-Community Relations Department
The School-Community Relations Department provides
effective public relations services through planning,
implementing, and maintaining communications; developing
effective marketing and informational materials; and
participating in activities and events related to staff,
volunteers, and community services. This department
develops programs to actively involve all parents in the
education of their children. School health is also a
vital program within the School-Community Relations

Human Resources Department
The Human Resources Department directs the recruitment,
selection, and placement of qualified and classified
personnel consistent with legal requirements and
district goals. This department assists in the
evaluation, transfer, and dismissal of personnel while
also monitoring the district’s substitute personnel
service and the employee testing program. The Human
Resources Department coordinates new teacher orientation
and facilitates our mentoring program which includes new

Special Services Department
The Special Services Department includes Special
Education, Adult Basic Education, and Alternative
Education. This department is responsible for
administering, monitoring, and coordinating the special
education programs and services as outlined in IDEA
federal legislation and local district policies. The
Special Services Department also coordinates the
programs at the Haywood County Alternative Learning
Center and the Haywood County Multiple Disabilities
Class.

Federal Programs Department
The Federal Programs Department is responsible for
administering, monitoring, and coordinating all federal
programs and services as outlined in federal legislation
including NCLB. The department also encompasses School
Nutrition and the AAA after-school and summer enrichment
