Here Comes Success
Excitement resonated through the halls, classrooms, and commons areas of Haywood High School on Wednesday, August 4, and Thursday, August 5. Two days of in-service training became one huge pep rally for public education in Haywood County. From these two days, a new Haywood County Schools motto continued to ring. HERE COMES SUCCESS!
I believe that success for Haywood County Schools is inevitable. Haywood County Schools has an illustrious past and an even brighter future. In Haywood County, five groups have joined together to make success a reality in the near future. Haywood County Schools has all of the ingredients to achieve a triumphant future. Teachers and other staff members, administrators, community supporters, parents, and students have come together to sing a new song of success.
Over 500 faculty and staff members are celebrating a new beginning. Each new school year presents a fresh start. This summer, a search was conducted to find the right people for the right job. We believe that this has been accomplished. Veteran educators and new teachers have been joined together to create a professional staff in each school to promote achievement for all students. We are also including teacher assistants, food service providers, janitorial staff, and clerical personnel to complete the team. Training on teaching strategies and techniques and school protocol have been included to assure teamwork as we promote school improvement.
All summer, Haywood County School administrators have worked diligently to plan for the 2010-2011 school year. Before the end of July, administrators completed beginning-of-the-year checklists and began new initiatives at each school so that by Monday, August 9, we can welcome students and parents into an exciting school year. We have new technology, equipment and teaching supplies to meet the needs of rigorous standards of learning. The HCS administrators have worked in teams and individually to create a safe and exciting learning community for the children in Haywood County Schools.
I am proud to be a Haywood County native, and that pride glowed even brighter all summer as the Haywood County community came together to support our schools. No group of citizens is more supportive than the people of Haywood County. Our local government and business leaders have come together to promote success in our public school system. This was never more evident than during our Second Annual State of the Schools Business Fair and Celebration on Wednesday, August 4. The hallowed halls of Haywood High School were filled with supporters from businesses and service organizations. This same group provided an endless number of door prizes for the Haywood County Schools employees. Our retired educators provided another source of support on this day. Over thirty retired teachers actively participated in our State of the Schools Celebration. Again, we have a proud past, and we have been blessed with fine examples of public service.
Haywood County Schools cannot achieve success without our parents. The parents in Haywood County have provided amazing support. We have parents who are working to create the success that we seek for our students. They contribute their time and talents to assist our schools and to encourage school improvement. We appreciate our parents and we want you to be a part of our success. The doors of each school are open to parent involvement in Haywood County Schools.
Our only purpose is to educate all of the children in Haywood County. Creating successful students is our sole desire. All of the groups previously mentioned could not come together without this high calling. From each corner of Haywood County, our students come to us trusting that we will do what is right. Our current society is not perfect, but we still accept the challenge to educate all of our students. They deserve the best! Many of our students are excelling, and I am looking forward to promoting success in all of our students. I believe that all students desire success. The challenge is to provide learning opportunities that will assure success for each child.
HERE COMES SUCCESS! Please do not just stand by and watch. Participate in the success that we see as inevitable.
Over the next ten months, Haywood County Schools will be providing information on the initiatives that we believe will help achieve success in the district. Please stay tuned as we proudly unveil these exciting changes. Please visit www.haywoodschools.com often as we strive to share our successes with the entire Haywood County community.
