HJH Warriors complete season

HJH announces Spelling Bee
winners
Haywood Junior High School students recently completed in the
school’s Spelling Bee, and several will represent the school in
the county-wide bee on February 2.
Students participated in a homeroom spelling bee, and one from
each homeroom qualified for the HJH contest. Seventh-grade winners
were Daniel Evans, first place; Justin Wiley, second place; and
Shalandrius Duckworth, third place. Eighth-grade winners were Will
Jones, first place; Chris Harlston, second place; and Breanne
Sills, third place.
HJH celebrates basketball homecoming
Haywood Junior High School students enjoyed
homecoming activities January 8 through 11, including dress-up
days that brought out the best in “fashion” at the school. Monday
was Crazy Sock Day; Tuesday, Camouflage Day; Wednesday, Tornado
Day; and Thursday, Spirit Day, where everyone wore the school
colors - red, white and blue.
The week’s celebration culminated at a pep rally on
Thursday afternoon where members of the homecoming court were
presented to the school.
Basketball Homecoming Queen for the seventh grade
was Anesha Allen and for the eighth grade, Diamond Robinson. The
two Homecoming Queens were introduced to Warrior fans immediately
before Thursday night’s pair of games against long-time foe,
Bolivar.
HJH Junior Beta Club holds induction ceremony

Haywood Junior High School held its Junior Beta
Club Induction Ceremony Tuesday, January 23, in the school’s
cafeteria. Thirty-five students met the criteria and were honored
by eighth-grade members. Sponsors for the club are teachers Myrna
Gorman and Mary Jane Williams.

Thirty-five students “made the grade” and met other requirements
to earn membership in the Haywood Junior High School Junior Beta
Club this school year. Eighth-grade members, with the help of HJH
Principal Dontye Bradford and Assistant Principal Don Sims, held
the induction ceremony Tuesday, January 23, in the school’s
cafeteria, welcoming and encouraging the newcomers.
Officers of the HJH Beta Club are Nathan Peace, president; David
Watts, vice-president; Holly Hayes, secretary; Abbie Perez,
treasurer; and Logan Eubanks, reporter. Other members are Zach
Austin, Anna Baumheckel, Jessica Boyd, Courtney Forsythe, D. J.
Frederick, Tevyn Greene, Chris Harston, Kirk Hilliard, Felicia
Ingram, Cory Jackson, Martha Jane Jameson, Will Joyner, Karl
Navarro, Randall Phillips, Kristen Reed, Travis Richardson, Haynes
Russell, Breanne Sills, Leslie Smith, Kierra Woods and Lindsey
Yoder.
New Junior Beta Club members are Kaylee Avant, Paige Battle, Cody
Campbell, Christian Canada, Karla Cisneros, Jay Clinton, Demarcus
Coney, Dallas Elrod, Tonya Elrod, Madison Eubanks, Jayme Evans,
Brionna Fields, Khadeeja Freeman, Reeves Garrett, Laura Gavin,
