HJH receives SACS accreditation

Pictured are Mrs. Judy Rutledge, Mr. Bobby McLaughlin and HJH
Principal Dontye Bradford.
Haywood Junior High School completed the
requirements for accreditation by the Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools on February 25-26. This process is required
every five years, and Haywood Junior High was recommended for
accreditation for the third time. Mrs. Judy Rutledge was the
chairperson of the Quality Assurance Review Team. Other team
members were Mr. Bobby McLaughlin and Mrs. Michele Elliott.
The areas that were evaluated included the
school profile and collaborative process; academic and
non-academic data analysis; beliefs, common mission, and shared
vision; curricular, instructional, assessment, and
organizational effectiveness; action plan development; and the
school improvement plan and process evaluation.
Principal Dontye Bradford said, “The
administration of HJH would like to thank all staff members,
students, parents, and community stakeholders who contributed to
the effort required for accreditation.”
Yearbook staff busy at HJH

According to HJH Yearbook sponsor Mrs. Holly
Pipkin, yearbook staff members have put in a lot of time on this
year’s yearbook. Now that the yearbook is printed in all color,
members have fun creating color-filled pages of events that have
happened throughout the year. To be a member of the staff,
students must maintain a “C” average as well as have excellent
conduct in all classes. Members are also required to sell
advertisements to local businesses, which helps fund the cost of
the yearbook. The entire staff is anxiously awaiting the
yearbook’s arrival in May.
HJH Yearbook staff members are Maggie Herron, Taylor Killen,
Ross Houghton, Hayley Moore, Adeana Murphy, Cameron Rayner,
LaDawn Ammons, Jasmine Taylor, Kaayla, Cunningham, Katie Lewis,
Logan Duncan, Katora Holmes, Ciera Woods, Noryani Perez and
Kenya Ector.
