Haywood Junior High recently received a full-size replica of Rembrandt Peal’s famous “porthole” portrait of George Washington and a flag that was flown over his home at Mount Vernon, Virginia. These came as part of an official Celebration Kit from Mt. Vernon’s school outreach program. The portrait hangs proudly in the HJH library, in honor of one of our founding fathers, George Washington. HJH will also be receiving more projects, lesson plans, and programs to help honor America’s first president. HJH Principal Dontye Bradford and Assistant Principal Don Sims are pictures with the framed portrait.
