Santa visits Anderson
Students at Anderson Early Childhood Center were thrilled with a
visit from Santa before the holidays. They each had time to talk
to him about their Christmas wishes.

“The Elf on the Shelf” fascinates Anderson students

Students in Mrs. Allison Ferrell’s class at Anderson have a very
special visitor that has them fascinated. It seems Mrs. Debbie
Clagg, one of the students, Hadley’s grandmother, read “The Elf
on the Shelf” book that explains that the “Elf” is Santa’s
messenger and reports to Santa how the children have been while
at school or at home. The “Elf” goes every night to the North
Pole to report to Santa. Each morning when the children arrive
at school, he will be in a new spot, and it is a game to see who
can find him first. “We played a graphing game to help us vote
on a special name for our elf,” Mrs. Ferrell said, “and we named
him Jackson! We are so excited about Jackson, and are trying
very hard to be on our best behavior while he is here!”
Former Spanish teacher shares with Anderson students

Mrs. Cheryl Moses was a very special visitor in Mrs. Allison
Ferrell’s class. Mrs. Moses is Miss Allison's mother, and she
taught Spanish many years at Haywood High School before retiring
in May of 2009. She read the class’s book of the week “Uno, Dos,
Tres: One, Two, Three” by Pat Mora. The students also practiced
other words like hola, adios, Mama, and Papa. When Mrs. Moses
revisited the class a few weeks later, she was surprised to see
how much Spanish they remembered from her first visit.
Students help with gardening

Trudy Hughes’s class at Anderson is taking care of some recently
planted monkey grass. Students have even named their plants!
Mr. Jim goes to art

While helping students in Mrs. Jennifer White’s
class during art, Mr. Jim found time to make a pottery fish,
too!
Anderson Elementary students are busy learning about shapes

Students in Miss Wendy Hopper’s class have fun
drawing shapes in shaving cream while developing sensory
awareness.

Students in Mrs. Connie Allen’s class are getting ready for
Thanksgiving with their “shape turkeys.”

Students in Mrs. Connie’s room love to work on the computer.
