"Andy” joins Anderson kids at pep rally

Award-winning kindergarten students at Anderson
Early Childhood Center got high fives from their new mascot,
“Andy,” at the academic pep rally held in January. Some were a
little wary of Andy at first, but after a hug or two, they soon
adopted him with enthusiasm. The children were recognized, among
other things, for academic achievement, improvement, attendance,
and good behavior.
Students celebrate 100 Days in School

Anderson Early Childhood
students celebrated 100 days in school
Friday, January 27, with fun and games and special activities
marking the
special day. The school’s mascot, Andy, joined this
student in the celebration.
“Show and Tell” at Anderson has a “tale”
It seems a “Show and Tell” program at Anderson
Early Childhood Center came alive recently when a parent of one of
Tracy Riddle’s students brought in the family pets. “Lulu,” a
Sugar Glider, also accompanied by her sister, “Spunky,” fascinated
the children and teacher. Sugar Gliders, which look like small
squirrels, are native to Australia. They are marsupials (one kind
of mammal) and nocturnal (most active at night). According to
their owner, Tracy Goodman, Lulu and Spunky can jump as high as 10
feet and are kept on a string so they do not jump or glide across
the room. She also said they are very gentle, do not bite, and
live in colonies.
“The students marveled at these pets,” Mrs. Riddle
said, adding that the kids were allowed to pet “Lulu” and
“Spunky.”
