East Side students enjoy obstacle course


East Side Elementary honor roll students enjoyed
a giant obstacle course set up in their gymnasium on Friday,
September 26, as a reward for achievement and for fundraiser
sales. They also enjoyed snacks and drinks from the gym’s
“concession” stand.
East Side students enjoy a “tasty” animal cell
lesson

Students in Mrs. Allen’s fourth-grade class at East Side
Elementary recently learned all about animal cells through an
“edible” animal cell project. Mrs. Allen said the idea came from
enchantedlearning.com, and the children used Jell-O to make
their bowls of animal cells. Several different classmates as
well as the teacher contributed the Jell-O.

East Side Elementary Principal Tammie Canady and
Assistant Principal Yvette Blue welcomed students and their
families and friends to their open house on August 25. Everyone
enjoyed a hotdog dinner, met the teachers and toured the school. A
roving photographer took candid shots of the guests throughout the
evening.

East Side students are in their new classes this
year, about 541 strong in third and fourth grades. Principal
Tammie Canada will be welcoming family members and other visitors
to the school’s open house on August 25, beginning at 6 p.m.,
where she will host a hotdog dinner and classroom tours.
