Haywood Elementary holds annual music program


Haywood Elementary students raised their voices in
song on May 2 when they presented to family and friends their
annual spring music program. The music for the first- and
second-grade programs was a variety of television-show theme
songs, including “Mickey Mouse,” “I Love Lucy,” “Three’s Company,”
“Welcome Back Cotter,” and a “Spiderman, Scooby Doo and Batman”
medley. Principal Jean Wills and some of the teachers dressed up
in costumes of the shows for the occasion.

Students earn awards for achievement

Haywood County Mayor Franklin Smith assisted
with the presentation of achievement awards to Haywood Elementary
students during the awards program on Friday, April 25.

Ollie says, “Ride Safe”

Ollie, the Tennessee Otter came to visit with his
friends, Tennessee Highway Patrol officers, to stress the
importance of seatbelts and booster seats for children. Ollie told
the faculty and students that Tennessee is the only state that has
a child booster seat law, and that children under 4'9" or 9 years
old must be in a booster seat in the backseat.

Haywood Elementary hosts School Board members at lunch

Members of the Haywood County School Board, along
with Director of Schools George Chapman and Assistant Director
Doris Battle, were special guests for lunch at Haywood
Elementary on Tuesday, April 22. Pictured are (from left)
