Haywood Schools Nutrition Department receives grant
The Haywood County School System Nutrition Department recently received an
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grant for $9,900, according to
Superintendent Marlon King, who received a letter from State Department of
Education Commissioner Timothy K. Webb. These funds are to be used to purchase a
walk-in freezer for Haywood High School.
According to School Nutrition Supervisor Alison Pyron, it will provide
additional freezer storage for the school. East Side Elementary School received
ARRA funds earlier this year for the purchase of a tilt skillet unit that was
installed in the fall.
“Our schools are excited to benefit from these ARRA funds” Mrs. Pyron said.
