Summer Express a great success!

Lots of Haywood County students had a great time in this
year’s Summer Express program that offered them the opportunity to “express
themselves through creative activities.” Under the direction of Suzanne Wallace
with the help of Kendall Dancy, the summer school full of enrichment classes at
East Side Elementary was paid for with a portion of the more than $1 million of
the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program funds.
With classes such as Cartoons and Graphic Arts, Clay
Creations, Fairy Tale Puppets, Cyberworld, Knit Wit, Games – Games - Games,
Lights Camera Action, Baby Sitting Skills, Manners, I’ve Got Music, Community
Helpers, The Egypt Game, Summer Games, and others, the students had a wonderful
time filling days for two weeks learning something new and different and making
friends.
“We are thrilled with the response from the children and
parents in our first year,” Wallace said. “We look forward to providing more
enhancement programs for Haywood County students.”
